This video owes a creative debt to the Supplemento al dizionario italiano, a beginners’ guide to the fine art of the Italian hand gesture that was created by the Milanese graphic designer Bruno Munari in 1958. It was a present a dear friend of mine gave to me a couple of years ago, and ever since I had it, I have been wanting to pay homage to its incredible wit. Just as the majority of these gestures are still in use today, the book is still in print 57 years after it was first published.
